Leapmotor has commenced pre-sales for its all-electric hatchback, the B05, known in China as the Lafa 5. First unveiled at the 2025 Munich Motor Show, the compact EV is now set for a gradual global rollout beginning in 2026 — positioning itself as a stylish, tech-driven rival to the MG4 and BYD Dolphin.

Built on Leapmotor’s LEAP 3.5 Architecture B platform, the B05 measures 4,430 mm long, 1,880 mm wide, and 1,520 mm tall, with a 2,735 mm wheelbase. Its exterior blends sporty and futuristic cues — a sealed front grille, frameless doors, a roof spoiler, and a full-width LED tail-light bar marked by bold “LEAPMOTOR” badging.

Inside, the B05 continues Leapmotor’s minimalist B-series design language, highlighted by a 14.6-inch 2.5K touchscreen, an 8.8-inch digital cluster, and the brand’s Leapmotor OS 4.0 Plus system powered by Qualcomm’s 8295P chip. The cabin integrates dual AI assistants (DeepSeek and Tongyi Qianwen), a 12-speaker Leap Sound system, ventilated and heated front seats, 256-color ambient lighting, and a panoramic glass roof.

in terms of performance, the rear-wheel-drive hatchback offers two motor outputs — 132 kW and 160 kW — delivering top speeds of 160 km/h and 170 km/h, respectively. The higher-output variant sprints from 0–100 km/h in 6.4 seconds. Battery choices include 56.2 kWh (515 km CLTC) and 67.1 kWh (605 km CLTC) packs, both supporting fast charging from 30% to 80% in about 18 minutes.

Higher trims gain LiDAR-based driver assistance, powered by the Qualcomm 8650 chip with 200 TOPS computing capability and 27 sensors for Leapmotor Pilot features. An even sportier B05 Ultra variant — featuring aggressive body kits, matte finishes, and larger spoilers — is confirmed for mid-2026.

With chassis tuning by Stellantis’ European engineering team, the Leapmotor B05 (Lafa 5) promises a sporty, youthful driving experience.

In the Nepalese market, Leapmotor currently offers three models: the premium C10 SUV, the B10 compact SUV, and the T03 city hatchback. The addition of the B05 (Lafa 5) could strengthen the brand’s lineup further, bringing a stylish all-electric hatch option for younger, tech-savvy buyers.
